MICRONEEDLING

We perform microneedling at our office here in Longmont Colorado. Microneedling, otherwise known as collagen induction therapy, is a natural, safe, and effective way to treat skin conditions such as:

  • enlarged pores

  • rough skin texture

  • acne scars

  • dark spots

  • hairloss, thinning eyebrow hairs

  • fine lines and wrinkles

How does it work?

Microneedling works by stimulating our wound repair mechanisms. When tiny micro-wounds are created, our body responds by creating collagen, elastin and new skin cells. Collagen and elastin are responsible for keeping your skin firm, thick, and elastic. Microneedling has also been shown to increase the absorption rate of any skincare products and serums that you use on your skin by 3,000%. Hyaluronic acid used with Microneedling is all natural and holds 1,000 times its weight in water. This allows for deep hydration, nourishment and rejuvenation. Microneedling works purely on the skin level, if there’s muscular involvement or “sagging” skin- try our cosmetic acupuncture services.

Treatments are done 1x month for a minimum of 4-6 sessions for best results. Results can last 3-5 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This depends on the overall quality of your skin and what your desired results are. At the very least, you should expect that you will need 4-6 treatments.

Results can take 2 weeks after the final treatment to see; however, some people report that their skin has a “glow” and feels tighter after just a few days.

Please note that treatment can only be done once per month.

  • Yes.

  • Microneedling is contraindicated and not suitable for those who are prescribed blood thinners, patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, patients with active and moderate to severe skin lesions like eczema, acne, psoriasis, herpes, or any active infection or open wounds, and pregnancy. Patients with keloids or extreme keloidal tendency should also avoid microneedling.

Check with your doctor first if you’ve had fillers and also want to do microneedling or are prescribed topicals.

  • Come with a clean, make-up free face. Discontinue retinol products 48 hours before your appointment, and avoid fillers and injections and other skin treatments for 30 days before your appointment.

  • Your session will last about 45 minutes. We’ll talk with you to understand your goals, history, and plan the best treatment for you. We’ll use a headband to ensure there is no hair in your face, and apply numbing cream (unless you opt out of it), and have you rest while the numbing takes effect (usually about 10-20 minutes). The microneedling will take about 20-25 minutes.

  • Your skin will be red for 8-12 hours after treatment, and you could experience some pin-point bleeding immediately after treatment. You might also experience some peeling. For 24 hours, apply nothing to your face except warm water. Slight skin irritation, such as feeling like you are sunburnt is normal.

It’s important to avoid the sun after treatment, to not apply make up or anything to the face & avoid touching the face, no exercise (sweat can irritate pores), and use a fresh pillow case that night. Being as clean as possible is imperative as it reduces the risk of any adverse reaction or infection, and allows for the best possible results. You can resume your normal skin care routine the following day.
